Week 35 is here and gone, hooray! This means the twins are now in the safe zone if born anytime now. We are so blessed to be able to announce we have passed this pivotal point in our vegan twin pregnancy, as there were a few weeks of stress along the way. Thankfully we can share the events of this week with all of you, just click the link below.

PREGNANCY MAKES A WOMAN SO GORGEOUS, I FULLY EMBRACE EVERY SECOND OF MY APPEARANCE DURING THIS TIME.
Month Due: June 2017
Twins Gender: Boy & Girl
Food: Still can’t get enough fruit and vegetables as it is spring, almost summer, in Southern California. Cantaloupe, strawberries, black berries, watermelon and etc are in season so I have been enjoying these fresh fruits to the maximum. For vegetables, I love snacking on fresh sugar snap peas, English cucumbers and bell peppers. Meals have become a bit repetitive as Genki Husband has been working a lot of extra hours to build up more time to take off for our multitude of appointments. (He has gone to every single one! He’s going to be a great father.) So we have been having a lot of salads with a protein on top such as homemade ‘refried beans’, quinoa, lentils and etc. Then we top everything with a ton of freshly cut vegetables and as many leafy greens as possible. There was also some homemade MSG curry, something we have not had in a while as it’s been too hot. Snacks are fresh fruit and vegetables, with the occasional sweet homemade cookie or protein energy bar.
Cravings: I still eat around every two hours or so, my hungry has not gone down but rather up! Thankfully though, I mostly crave healthy foods such as fruit and vegetables. It’s funny to watch how the twins react to each food item. At first I thought they were moving around after eating a sweet item for the sugar content, then I noticed they loved to have a party after green vegetables too. They are going to love being vegan toddlers.
Prenatal Vitamins: Still taking the exact same vegan prenatal vitamins as these have been worked just fine for the entire pregnancy.
Symptoms: The same symptoms are still affecting me such as pregnancy carpool tunnel syndrome, OB said it will last until I give birth. There are mornings when I cannot do anything with my hands as they are so much in pain I can’t move my fingers. It’s a small price to pay for two adorable, healthy babies though. Other than that, I really do not have anything else to really mention besides the weight being a bit more in the belly when I am on my feet for longer periods of time and the gigantic growth of my chest. I have no idea my chest would grow to such a size before delivery!
Milestones: As we are on a weekly plan with our OB now, we do have some more news about the twin pregnancy. I have continued to gain 1lb per week, something my OB is happy about since I have kept the gain steady and appropriate for the growth of the twins. I believe there was only 1 or 2 weeks when I did not gain anything but it compensated for the few weeks my OB asked for me to gain 2lbs a week. So far I believe I am around 27lbs total gain, lower than the “statistical suggestion” however none of us are worried since the twins are growing right on target. As for the twins, they are as healthy as we can wish. Our team of specialists are thrilled they are doing so well and have no concerns as of this week as to a healthy delivery and no NICU time at all. We pray this is the case…. This week the twins were measured again with the level 2 ultrasound: Baby Girl was 5lbs 3oz and Baby Boy was 5lbs 6oz, better than expected for twins at this gestational age. The discordance between the two was just 2%.
I’m Excited About: The arrival of our recliner/gliding chair that we ordered over a month ago from Buy Buy Baby. Each chair is made to order so it takes around 6-10 weeks, possibly longer since we speciality ordered a few extra additions to be added. This will complete the nursery for now, until the twins come and we can decorate a bit more to their likes/dislikes. We chose to not go overboard as we wanted to decorate according to what they liked, not just what was popular. Plus, simple is better we believe when they are young as it will be easier to clean and allots for extra space for unexpected items to be added. But mostly we are excited to meet our twins outside the belly. We believe they have personalities already but can’t wait to see if we are right and to adore them with love and affection.
I’m Nervous About: It may sound strange however I am nervous about going into labor earlier than our hospital appointment date. As I still have not had any contractions, I worry I will not know when it is happening. I know those of you whom have had children already are probably laughing but I have heard there are some women that are lucky enough not to feel the contractions. We have a 45-60 minute drive to our hospital, so this means I have to be able to allow travel time. I know this is just a strange worry of mine and everything will go just fine however I’m just keeping it real as this is something on my mind.
Exercise:. Pretty much the same as the last few weeks however I have added more light housework and a few short walks outside. We are extremely close to our due date so our doctors are no longer worried about going into preterm labor, as we are past this point.
Note: If you have any suggestions for a twin pregnancy, I would love to hear your comments. Or just anything in general, advice is always accepted and appreciated. Books and medical professionals can only give so much information, personal experience is sometimes much better than anything else.
