Hooray, we have made it into the 3’s!!! It’s hard to believe we are not only in our last trimester but now less than two months away from meeting our twins in real life, not on a screen. Follow along with me as I go through everything that happened during this week of pregnancy. Vegan twin pregnancy!

PREGNANCY MAKES A WOMAN SO GORGEOUS, I FULLY EMBRACE EVERY SECOND OF MY APPEARANCE DURING THIS TIME.
Month Due: June 2017
Twins Gender: Boy/Girl
Food: Fresh, raw fruits and vegetables are what I crave around 90% of the time. This week it turned rather hot outside, 90F/32C being the coolest day so anything with high amounts of water is essential. Genki Husband also went and picked up a watermelon this last week for me, so thrilled! We ate the entire thing in about 2-3 days, so hydration is not a problem for me. Additionally I have been loving buddha bowls, as these are super fast to put together in the hot weather. If you are well-prepared like me, you can get all of the ingredients prepped on the weekend and during the week it’s easy to just toss it all together in a bowl for the microwave (or cold on lettuce). Nice cream is also a favorite at the moment, along with tons of toppings. Luna bars, clementines and cucumber slices are my go-to for driving to appointments. I always have something in my purse, along with a car water and a purse water. Genki Husband has also been wonderful and has been grilling when possible, such as vegan sausages, tofu, vegetables and vegan burgers.
Cravings: Watermelon as normal for this time of year, along with fresh berries of the spring season. So nothing new here for the spring season…
Aversions: None, I’m assuming I will not have any for the duration of the pregnancy now. Unless you can count super hot foods, which is never on the list on hot spring days.
Prenatal Vitamins: No changes, rather happy with the ones I am taking right now. Unless my OB/GYN sees something new, I am certain I will stick with these supplements until the end of the pregnancy.
Symptoms: More and more symptoms are occurring now that we have 1-1.5 months left until the twins greet the world. My first and foremost one is a heavy stomach, the twins are growing so it is of no surprise. As of today, I still have no back pain from the weight but I do have little pains here and there. For about a day, I had a few pains on my left side of my middle back for just a few seconds at a time. I read online these pains were from one of the babies’ hitting a nerve in my back, so no real worries. Another pain I have had this week, sharp twice this whole week in my “lower region”. Last appointment I talked to my OB/GYN of some pulses down in that region and he said it was completely normal during this time of the pregnancy. He also mentioned to expect sharp pains, so I wasn’t worried at all when these two pains occurred. Thankfully these were just one second at a time and then were gone. Finally I have noticed a shortness of breath, another delightful pregnancy symptom during the third trimester. Baby boy occasionally hides his head up in my rib cage, so I can tell my uterus is definitely being pushed up already into my lungs’ region. But I’m making it all work since it will all be worth the extra effort in the long run.
Milestones: Not an appointment week so I do not have real statistics to share with everyone. My weight has increased 1-2 lbs each week, right on track with my doctors’ orders. He mentioned a lot of mothers start losing weight in the 3rd trimester, when having multiples, so he would prefer 2 lbs each week from now until this magical moment starts when I lose weight. I have not noticed any decrease in appetite though and/or weight loss. The babies are also growing, I have noticed my baby bump grow each day. Seeing my belly grow makes me so happy since it means the twins are gaining weight, hooray!
I’m Excited About: Seeing the results of the babies’ growth during this next week, hopefully they will meet their goals too. I have been eating tons of protein and reducing my carbs (per my OB’s suggestions), so I am testing the whole high protein for growth concept.
I’m Nervous About: Results next week again from our specialist, I have been practicing patience this week and not moving very much. My cervix is always a constant worry for me, as it is very important to keep lengthened to keep the twins inside until after 34 weeks. Our goals are 35 weeks and 5 lbs, these are suggested from my team of experts for the healthiest twins. Anything after this will just be an added bonus.
Exercise:. Nothing really new here…
Note: If you have any suggestions for a twin pregnancy, I would love to hear your comments. Or just anything in general, advice is always accepted and appreciated. Books and medical professionals can only give so much information, personal experience is sometimes much better than anything else.
