Winter is just around the bend, creeping in just 4 days before Christmas. If you live in a warmer climate (or you lucky beach bums in the southern hemisphere enjoying summer right now), it might be hard to understand the seasonal variations for produce available in the stores. If you take a look back at our summer grocery haul (1,2,3) and autumn grocery haul (1,2,3) it is easy to see the difference in produce availability in the cooler regions in the northern states in the USA. Thus, today I would like to share our Autumn grocery haul.
All items, in above photo, were purchased from Meijer Grocery Store.
- Purple Cabbage
- Pasta (Vermicelli)
- Ramen (noodles are vegan, toss the broth out)
- Bell Peppers
- POM pomegranate juice
- Gardein Fishless Filets
- English Muffins (vegan approved)
- SILK Vegan soy yogurt
- Romaine Lettuce
- 2 packages organic mushrooms
These items were all purchased at Aldi’s Grocery Store.
- Unsweetened Almond Milk
- Spray Olive Oil
- Butternut Squash
- Bell Peppers
- Hot Salsa
- Sweet Potatoes
- Gnocchi (accidentally vegan)
- Graham Cracker pie crust (accidentally vegan)
- Avocados (my latest addiction on toast)
These are the changes from early fall to late fall, can you tell the difference? For me, I love early fall and summer months for the bright colors and abundance of variety in vitamin-enriched produce. Now that it is becoming cooler and farmers are hibernating for the season, more reserved colors are returning such as orange, brown and green.
