It’s spring! In the northern states that can mean only one thing, our traditional voyage to Holland for the annual Tulip Festival! See the video of Dutch Dancing and the gorgeous tulips in bloom this time of year. Vegan Travels!
The first thing you notice when driving into Holland City limits is the amount of tulips lining the streets. It’s as if the city looks around each year and seeks out any tiny leftover piece of soil untouched and plants tulips. If you have never been to Holland, it is a sight to see. All the side streets are even lined with tulips. I’m not sure if the city does it or if it’s the residents but whomever does they did a wonderful job.
This year I videoed two different videos of the Dutch Dancers. These volunteers are a sight to see and hear! Not only do they volunteer to learn the dance routine but each one spends a great deal to make a traditional costume. I learned this year from another spectator that each volunteer dancer must use a traditional design and hand make ones’ own outfit. That is dedication!
Watching the Dutch Dancers every year is a delight seeing all the smiles on the faces. Each one works so hard throughout the year to learn the routines and once it is done, smiles are spread all around. It is just a great day out in the sunshine, uplifting.
Oops – a few got in this batch of yellow tulips…
Depending upon the street, the tulips vary.
This is a lot of photos all in one package. See part two for the vegan options we opted for this year and some more photos of tulips and dancers. Enjoy!
