Gardein has been very busy getting high-quality products out and ready for the general public to enjoy. Lately I have seen an influx of meal-ready products become available at our local Target and Meijer stores. Normally we do not have these pre-packaged dinners but seeing as it’s hard to get into the kitchen lately, we have resorted to them more often than not. These are great options for the occasional dinner but I’m not sure one would want them every meal. In our area a dinner package such as this Gardein one (contains normally 2-3 servings) goes for around $5.00 each. Additionally I have seen Target come around with its’ own brand of meat-free pre-packaged items in the frozen aisle alongside Gardein. Target brands are usually only about $0.15 cheaper so we have just stuck with the award-winning Gardein. The texture is perfect and many times my in-laws (100% carnivores) do not notice the difference when we serve these instead of normal animal products. We can tell their interest each time Gardein is on the table, but, they are very good and not trying things until we are gone. Ha-ha Cheeky I know!
Dinner Recipe Idea:
- 3-4 servings prepared rice
- 1 package Gardein Mandarin Orange Crispy Chick’n
- ½ package frozen peas
- Side dish of a vegetable (we chose steamed squash or a salad)
- Side dish of a fruit (we chose diced cantaloupe since it was in season)
Simply make everything according to the package instruction on the back of the Gardein packages. It’s basically just remove the meat-free chick’n from the freezer and tossing a spray oiled frying for about 5 minutes. Pour the packaged sauce over the top and mix well for about 1 minute in the warm pan. Then add the frozen peas during the last 5 minutes and ta-dah dinner is served. So easy and ready in less than 10 minutes total!
Sometimes we all need a simple dinner idea such as this in our lives. Enjoy!
