Over a year ago Genki Husband brought home some Barbara’s Snackimals from a business trip to Los Angeles, California. Everyone’s husband brings home food items as a present from a trip right? Who wants a t-shirt when one can get vegan snacks? I know my choice. Nom nom nom He also brought some other vegan snacks as a present, such a good husband. But then again he ate a good portion of them sooo… Anyways, I was thrilled to test out this new brand that was not available in our local stores.
Just recently, our local stores have started to carry the Barbara’s line of products which ranges from cereal, snack bars, to animal shaped cookies. The products are packaged into 100% recyclable paperboard which reduces the amount of trash that goes into our landfill and helps protect the earth. Additionally the company supports the National Audubon Society Project Puffin and promotes the project on all of their products and website. If you have not heard of this project, I highly suggest you check out their website for more information.
But we are all here for the food review, right… Let me start with telling you I am addicted to Barbara’s products (Including Weetabix!). Barbara’s, I here for you if you need a ambassador! LOL We started with the small bag of Snackimals from California but we have tried just about every other product in their line that is vegan. By the way, the main website has an entire section that lists all special dietary needs from high fiber, cholesterol free, dairy free, no sodium, kosher, vegetarian, vegan and so on. It’s so convenient to have this tab right on the main website without having to search around for the product ingredients. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
The Snackimals were our first product to try and we fell in love. Apparently there are a few different types of the vanilla flavor (some have dairy) so double check on the back of the package to assure it is vegan. The vanilla makes the cookies smell like a birthday cake and your mouth will be watering before you can even eat one. If you don’t want to eat the entire bag, don’t open the bag! These cookies taste just like the dairy filled variety but without the guilt. Each bite contains whole grains, NO GMO’s and is vegan.
You must (yes must, go now, read later) try this brand if you have not already. Our local grocery store does have an organic section which contains this brand and some products are available in some Whole Foods store locations. Amazon and Barbara’s main website both contain the product line. I highly suggest testing them all out, it’s worth it. You’ll thank me later.
Question of the day: What’s your favorite present to receive when someone comes back from a trip?
